Do you need a lot of space to install a Living Wall? 
The answer is no. Our best-selling living wall system, PlantBox works by maximizing space and enhancing biodiversity with a very simple, yet effective box system design. You can transform a plain wall into a vertical garden by using our plant boxes to create a beautiful bespoke design with an area less than 1 meter in width, making it an ideal choice for areas such as balconies, roof gardens, lightwells and conservatories.
A living wall can also add interest and colour to fence posts, balcony railings and garden walls. For these areas, we can use trailing plants to add cascades of harmonious greenery and make a thriving attraction for wildlife.
How do you install PlantBox?
Plant Box comes as individual lightweight troughs which slot together to create a living wall to fit your desired space. The box is 60cm long x 20 cm high x 15cm deep – making it a highly versatile option. Each planting trough is 12cm deep and holds up to 4 x 13cm sized plants, allowing you to get creative with a range of foliage, perennials, herbs and flowering plants
The mini system can be as small as 3 troughs and larger walls can be designed to cover a much larger expanse, as the boxes are both stackable and modular. All you require to install your wall is a suitable wall or frame to attach the boxes to. We can provide the design and installation of any necessary framework. Our technical team can help you work out the structure and make sure your living wall is safe and secure. Is a living wall easy to water?
For individuals with a busy lifestyle, and or limited gardening experience having a living wall is a fantastic, low-maintenance way to enjoy the benefit of plants. A living wall is designed with a built-in irrigation system, giving you the freedom to sit back and enjoy your vertical garden, while your wall flourishes!
PlantBox comes with its own water reservoir which holds 1.8 liters of water. This is enough to keep your plants happy for 1-2 weeks, depending on the location and level of sunlight.
The reservoir contains capillary wicking felt which allows the plants to draw up water as needed. A smart indicator will tell you when you need to fill up, taking out any guesswork or the possibility of over or under watering your plants.
If your living wall is in full sun, then more frequent water will need to be supplied. We can advise you on this at the design stage, we can also provide an irrigation kit for large living walls. Our consultant will be able to help you to decide on the best system for you.
Can you put a living wall in a shady area?
Yes! A living wall is a bespoke product and we will advise you on the plants which are going to thrive in your garden. We will make sure your living wall is evergreen and has interest throughout the year. Species such as Ivy, Pachysandra, Euonymus and Ferns flourish in a shady spot, and many provide abundant berries and blooms which evolve throughout the seasons, turning your wall into a living work of art.
Can you put a living wall in full sun?
You certainly can. Plants love sunshine and we can advise you on a huge range of fragrant, flowering species to make your living wall into a haven for bees and wildlife. Our horticultural consultants will be able to advise you on a colour scheme and the annual flowering nature of the plants, plus we will make sure your wall has the durability and correct watering system to ensure your plants survive and thrive during the seasons.
Is a living wall really eco-friendly?
Our PlantBox system is made in England from 100% recycled materials, utilizing household waste and recycling whilst keeping the company’s carbon footprint very low.
